How this started
Honestly? Huw built it for Kat.
We're the classic trope: reader girlfriend, gamer boyfriend. Kat reads constantly and could never find recommendations that actually landed, and Huw thought it sounded like an interesting coding project. Neither of us had the faintest idea how much work we were signing up for.
Kat has shaped every part of it since, and has been invaluable throughout, as she is with most things. It genuinely wouldn't exist without her. Somewhere along the way we looked at what we'd built, decided it was too good not to share, and here we are!
What we're trying to build
Most book apps are really popularity engines. They notice you liked one fantasy novel and hand you the fifteen fantasy novels everybody already knows about. We wanted the opposite: an app that finds the book that's genuinely yours, including the quieter, mid-list and niche books that never got a marketing budget, and we'll tell you honestly how well we think each one matches you.
It turns out that's easier said than done, but it hasn't stopped us giving it our best!
